The stars in this range represent 61 Star Systems and 4 of these Star Systems have multiple planets.
These planets include 0 Mercurian planets, 0 Sub-Terran planets, 4 Terran planets (Earth-Size), 7 Super Terran planets, 2 Neptunian planets, and 8 Jovian planets.

J1407 b is the most notable planet within the 401 to 600 light year planet list. It is a Saturn-size planet that has a ring system much larger than the planet Saturn.

Planet Note: Planets have been categorized according to mass, diameter, and temperature. However, these three criteria are still subject to change since data is preliminary and incomplete. Some planets also have a calculated ESC. Several criteria are used to calculate a Planet's ESC, or Earth Similarity Class. Some scientists call this the Earth Simiarlity Index, or ESI. ESC is an indicator of how "Earth-like" a planet may be, based upon the following criteria: whether a planet is in the habitable zone of their star (the area where liquid water could exist), if the planet is tidally locked (one side always faces its star), if the planet is subjected to intense solar flares from its parent star, size class, mass, density, diameter, atmospheric pressure, atmospheric composition, average global temperature, and whether it has liquid water. Most planets that are listed will not have a calculated ESC due to incomplete data. ESC does not nessarily indicate that a planet is "habitable" or can support life as we know it. ESC only gives a general indication about what type of planet it may be according to currently available data.

In addition, any planet that has a green background, is located within the "habitable zone" of that star. The habitable zone of a star is defined as the area around a star where liquid water could possibly reside on a planet, given that the planet has sufficient atmospheric pressure and a temperature that allows for liquid water. It does not indicate that a planet will be "habitable" just because it's located within that star's habitable zone. Also, any planet that has a red background, is located in the
habitable zone, however, the planet is bombarded by intense solar flares from its parent star.
